The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ was only 10 minutes from my house where I grew up all my life. I've always wanted to see the golf course and how this 27-hole facility was managed. I had friends who were members here and they've taken me to play only a handful of times. After transferring to Penn State and beginning my career path to become a Golf Professional, I wanted to first experience one of the biggest clubs in Northern New Jersey.
Once Dave Reasoner accepted my application to work at The Ridgewood Country Club and I started to work at the club, I was immediately put into work and I loved every moment of it. From a sequential point of view, I started working outside operations with 3 other interns. After doing that for a couple of weeks, we all started to operate the club's summer junior camp and that was ongoing for 8 weeks, 3 hours a day (Tuesday-Friday), with 50 juniors a week (age ranging from 6-12 years old). During those 8 weeks of junior camp, we also worked over 20 Men's Tournaments and over 20 Monday and Weekday Outings. As the workload increased, so did my ability to adapt to situations, think quickly on my feet, learn something new about the industry, and interact with members.
After Junior Camp was over, Dave Reasoner put me into more roles to help out with events. With the help of another Assistant Golf Professional, we worked on The Ridgewood Country Club's Junior Member-Guest and our Annual Bass & Birdies event. In this portfolio, you'll find both events and how involved I was.
